I just finished reading “Escape from Camp 14” and highly recommend it. It is the true story of a North Korean political prisoner who was born a prisoner and must serve his life there. What he suffered is chilling.
His crime was that his uncle defected to South Korea during the Korean War. Therefore, three generations of the family must suffer life imprisonment. It gives insight into the world Otto Warmbier was thrust into for a poster theft.
I warn you, it is a tough read but you can’t put it down.
