Good for business

There are three financial issue questions being put before Fountain Hills residents. The approval of each of these questions is essential for establishing a “business friendly” environment in our town.

The road bond issue is a “no brainer” and is supported by virtually all the folks who are chartered with keeping our town fit and functional. After all, what company would want to establish their roots in a town that cannot even afford to maintain its own road infrastructure?

The two school questions are just as essential when courting new business entities. Every economic study done over the past 20 years emphasizes the importance of having a high performing and well-funded local school system as a primary element of attracting new business. This is especially true of the high tech, medical and educational enterprises that Fountain Hills has targeted as prime candidates for business expansion.

A careful reading of the official ballot fact data, published in the election material mailed to all voters, shows that the net impact of the school bonds on the average Fountain Hills household is $32 bucks a year. That is because one override is a continuation of current funding (with no net tax increase) and the other bond raises the average annual property tax by a trivial amount (61 cents per household per week).

The bottom line is this. For an additional 61 cents a week, my family is more than willing to improve our educational institutions and help attract jobs and revenue to our fair town. This may be the best bargain you will ever see!

Vote yes on all three issues – it’s just good business.
