The Times would like to take this opportunity to welcome Sherry Leckrone to the Fountain Hills Town Council.

Leckrone was one of 11 people who applied to be considered for the town council seat left vacant when former member Cecil Yates decided to run for mayor. Two of those applicants were also part of the group of six who ran for another council seat this past summer which, all told, says our community has taken a healthy interest in local politics.

Leckrone boasts an impressive resume, including decades’ worth of work in the legal field and a four-year stint serving on the local Planning and Zoning Commission. Given her unanimous approval from the current council, we feel confident that Leckrone offered a convincing interview to help her land the appointment.

Set to join the council next week, Leckrone will soon be accompanied by Fountain Hills’ newly-elected mayor, Ginny Dickey, and councilmembers Mike Scharnow, David Spelich and (continuing following re-election) Alan Magazine.
