Good Samaritan

The professional accomplishments of Cecil Yates have been well documented by various people in our community. This is great for Fountain Hills to have someone with this much experience and accolades run for mayor of this town. I have known Cecil for several years and call him friend.

About seven years ago, my then 11-year-old son was out riding his bike around the neighborhood. I received a call from him telling me that he had a bike accident and was hurt. I asked where he was and immediately left to pick him up. As any parent would be, I was nervous and fearful about his injuries. We all fear for the safety of our children.

Unbeknownst to me, while I was on my way to find my son, a Good Samaritan had seen him on the side of the road and stopped. The Samaritan made sure that my son was off the road and in a safe place. The Samaritan comforted my son and offered to take him back to my house and/or call me. He reviewed my son’s injuries in case first aid was necessary. As it turned out, my son broke his arm but the Samaritan kept him calm until I arrived to pick him up.

We live in such an incredible community, that when we are in need, perfect strangers will stop everything to help. It’s amazing! In this particular case the Samaritan was Cecil Yates. When I got to the scene, he said hello and introduced himself to me. He thought my son’s arm might be broken, which it was. He asked if I needed anything else, or if he could help. I told him, “I’ve got it from here.”

Cecil Yates is a Good Samaritan and will make an excellent mayor.
