Goodman: The intersection upgrade should have been approved
I'm not a voter in Fountain Hills. However, I'm a winter resident. I have several years of experience as an elected official and an organization administrator. I served as a member of city council and mayor of a community in Michigan for over 12 years and the executive director of the Michigan Municipal League, the Association of Cities and Villages, for over 22 years.
I noticed in the recent local newspaper that the council did not support the request to update the intersection of Palisades and Fountain Hills Boulevard. The news article also indicated that the intersection is not ADA compliant.
As a regular winter user of that intersection, an upgrade should have been approved. In my view, for the Town Council to ignore the advice of professionals who study and examine these issues was a mistake.

For the sake of vehicle traffic and pedestrian safety, I encourage the Town Council to reconsider their decision regarding this matter.
