The group meets at 9 a.m. at the Community Center. Mayor Linda Kavanagh has also been invited to share her thoughts about issues facing Arizona towns and cities.
Kavanagh, elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving in the House from 2007-2015, was recently appointed chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He also serves as vice chairman of the Government and Public Safety and Military Technology committees and is a member of the State Debt and Budget Committee.

GOP to meet Saturday, Jan. 20

Arizona Legislative District 23 legislators State Sen. John Kavanagh and Reps. Jay Lawrence and Michelle Ugenti-Rita will present their annual legislative reports at the Saturday, Jan. 20, meeting of the Fountain Hills Republican Club.
The group meets at 9 a.m. at the Community Center. Mayor Linda Kavanagh has also been invited to share her thoughts about issues facing Arizona towns and cities.
Kavanagh, elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving in the House from 2007-2015, was recently appointed chairman of the Appropriations Committee. He also serves as vice chairman of the Government and Public Safety and Military Technology committees and is a member of the State Debt and Budget Committee.
Lawrence was elected in 2014 and is beginning his second term in the house as vice-chairman of the Education Committee and as a member of the Commerce and Health committees. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he also works on issues facing military veterans.
Ugenti-Rita is the Election Committee chair, the Government Committee chair and serves on the Appropriations Committee. She originally was elected to the house as a District 8 representative in 2011 and has served consecutive terms until the present.
Republican Club meetings are open to all interested persons. Residents of Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, the Verde communities and Fort McDowell make up the district.
A “social period” begins at 8:30 a.m. with complimentary coffee and light breakfast snacks. Reservations are not required.
The club’s informal evening socials will resume Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Fireside Grill at the Centerstone Plaza Hotel.
Newly elected Second Vice President and Membership Chair Chris Brant said all members that it’s time to renew dues for 2018. New members are welcome. Applications are on the web site.
