Got betrayed 1.1

Posted

In an Oct. 14 letter to the editor, Dorothy Wolovek stated her belief that

• The Supreme Court has betrayed our democracy and constitution for the following reasons:

o It does support prolife/antiabortion

o It does not support the right of individuals to marry whom they choose, i.e. same sex marriages

• It is unconstitutional and unconscionable to force churches to go against these beliefs

I fully support her on all of the above and propose applying the same concepts to the belief of my church, the Absurdity Church of Fountain Hills.

Our congregation believes the following:

• Barbershops and hair salons be outlawed in Fountain Hills because they follow the practice of cutting and leaving to die the hair of their clients, just as abortion clinics may do the same with parts of a body. In both cases, in the barbershop or in the clinic, the desires of the client are immaterial. Only we, the people of the church, not the individual or court, should leave the choice to the individual

• Our church, the Church of Absurdity, firmly believes that marriage should be restricted to persons of the same sex, and further, it should be permitted only for persons whose last name begins with “I.”

Our congregation feels just as strongly about this belief as other churches feel about traditional marriages. Accordingly, we demand that the rest of the nation comply with our interpretation of the holy book. We believe that the Supreme Court would betray God if it opposes our cherished religious belief.

If other churches can determine what is constitutional and unconscionable for society, the Church of Absurdity of Fountain Hills has the same right.
