Somehow in today’s society, words are not enough to express the gratitude factor to an individual and a friend who served our community, his family and a foreign country with sincerity and respect.
I had the privilege to sit on the Town Council dais next to Mayor Wally Nichols for two years.
His thought process was clear and fairness was always demonstrated with the votes he made during Council meetings; always using respect with our residents and fellow Councilmembers.

Rick Melendez, Former Town Councilmember
Somehow in today’s society, words are not enough to express the gratitude factor to an individual and a friend who served our community, his family and a foreign country with sincerity and respect.
I had the privilege to sit on the Town Council dais next to Mayor Wally Nichols for two years.
His thought process was clear and fairness was always demonstrated with the votes he made during Council meetings; always using respect with our residents and fellow Councilmembers.
The City of Ataco, El Salvador, and its residents are in mourning following his early departure.
Through his efforts, water from the rivers and electricity were brought to villagers in the deepest jungles of that area.
His concern for environmental issues started the Pacific Turtle Program in that country, which has saved thousands of baby turtles.
On behalf of my family, the Mayor, City Council and residents of Ataco, thank you, Mayor Nichols.
