I was very upset to read Councilwoman Dickey’s opinion column. I had always held her in high esteem as our councilwoman despite our very different political leanings. And yes, Ms. Dickey is absolutely entitled to her own opinion, no matter how shocking and upsetting it may be.

The good part is that now we know without a shred of doubt where Ms. Dickey stands on the matters of MCSO and Sheriff Arpaio. Our own Fountain Hills councilwoman who we had elected is supporting the very costly and unjustified recall effort of our sheriff, where only a year ago, she was fighting her own recall. Very sad.

But the main purpose of my letter is not to shed any more light on the opposition, but rather to express my gratitude to Sheriff Arpaio, the MCSO and the local Posse for the impeccable job that they are doing in keeping us safe.

Last month, I came out to support the sheriff during the drill held at the local school. Prior to that, I had organized (as well as attended) several pro-sheriff rallies both in Fountain Hills and Phoenix. I will continue to do it again and again to show my gratitude for the great job the sheriff and his department have done for our county.

It is a great honor that Sheriff Arpaio and his lovely wife Ava had chosen Fountain Hills to be their home.
