I would like to share an experience that I had at our local Safeway store after the big downpour on Saturday, Aug. 2, in the afternoon.
Upon leaving I heard a crying sound near my car and looked around and realized it was coming from the storm drain. Looking down, in there was a black feral cat sitting on a ledge, trapped.
I went back into the store and one of the managers, Andre, immediately offered to come out and see the situation. He and a customer lifted a very large and heavy storm grate off and, without hesitation, Andre jumped down in and lifted the cat out.
