The musical “South Pacific” is here in town! Yes, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “South Pacific!”
It is being presented by the Fountain Hills Theater and what a production. The casting is perfect.
The lead is played by Alex Gonzalez, who does a wonderful job and his voice is “right on” singing such great songs as “Some Enchanted Evening.” You will be humming it on your way home.

Bloody Mary is just as you would expect (again great casting) and the sailors are lots of fun. Patrick Russo is also in the production although he plays a stern commander, which is not his normal type of role but is very well done.
The entire case is great and of the course the show as written is wonderful as is this production. There are many memorable songs in it such as “I’m going to Wash That Man Out of my Hair” and “I’m In Love with A Wonderful Guy,” etc. Don’t miss this one, which is performed until Sep. 20. What a way to open the new season!
