We attended the Halloween celebrations and were absolutely blown away with the town’s involvement in this very entertaining event. We had not expected to see the hundreds of kids dressed in costume, nor the hundreds of adults in costume that had set up booths of activities for the kids to enjoy.
We are heartened by the efforts that many people made to provide a healthy, safe and enjoyable evening for families. We have lived here for 20 years and we have never seen so many of the town’s kids, young and old, in one place having such a ball.

Wow! What a great night!
We attended the Halloween celebrations and were absolutely blown away with the town’s involvement in this very entertaining event. We had not expected to see the hundreds of kids dressed in costume, nor the hundreds of adults in costume that had set up booths of activities for the kids to enjoy.

The People and Dogs Costume Competition was hilarious. The involvement of the town’s dignitaries doing the judging added a sense of importance to the event. The delightful and ghoulish performance by the dance group was wildly cheered by the crowd.
Our out of town guests were so impressed that this small town could pull off an event of this size. So were we. Next year we will go earlier, stay later and in the very least, wear costumes.
For months now the paper has been full of letters from people adamantly declaring that their belief about a particular political or religious issue is the only belief. The townspeople have seemed at odds with one another. Perhaps we could share the unifying belief that Kids Matter and that this belief will create a happier, healthier town. We certainly saw it in action last night and we applaud all of those people that worked so hard to make it happen.
This energy, creativity and focus on the youth, is the best survival tool this town has.
