Sit back and laugh as the great women stars of the Golden Age of Radio are heard again Thursday, Feb. 2.
The event starts at 1 p.m. in the Activity Center at the Fountain Hills Community Center.
The program includes Eve Arden, star of the popular “Our Miss Brooks” show; Gale Storm, who played “My Little Margie;” and everybody’s favorite, Lucille Ball, in “My Favorite Husband.” All three women came to radio as established stars in motion pictures. Great women of radio at Golden Age

The transition from radio to television was relatively easy for “Our Miss Brooks” and “My Little Margie.” Both remained basically the same shows with virtually the same cast.
When “My Favorite Husband” went from radio to TV, Lucille Ball insisted that her real-life husband, Desi Arnaz, play her husband on the show. The network honored her demand and, with some rewriting and recasting, “I Love Lucy” came to television.
These classic radio broadcasts are part of an extensive collection of programs in Golden Age of Radio’s Bruce Florence Library, which is available to all Activity Center members from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Membership in the Activity Center is required to attend meetings of the Golden Age of Radio. For more information, call Bill Whittaker at 480-837-7961, or the Activity Center at 480-816-5226.
