Green festivities mark holiday

Fountain Hills was hopping both Sunday and Monday as revelers celebrated St. Patrick's Day in whopping fashion.

The Sons of AMVETS of Fountain Hills organized a festival that ran for much of the day on Sunday, March 16, including the traditional turning of the Fountain green at 1 p.m. Bands, Irish dancers and plenty of food and drink also marked the celebration at Fountain Park.

The Town of Fountain Hills turned the world-famous Fountain green at noon on Monday for the traditional day of celebration March 17. No organized festivities were held, but people still gathered at the park to take in the Fountain and perhaps visit local shops and restaurants.
