Look out, restaurants in Fountain Hills. Ginny dickey, who is running for mayor, is discussing possible interference with business operations.
In Dickey’s town talk published on May 11 on YouTube, a woman from the audience asks a question related to restaurants in town. She asks if there is such a thing as green towns, adding that it seems like our commercial people in town do not recycle at all and use Styrofoam and plastic, and we have a plastic world that we just have to do something about. She says she was wondering if the environmental committee (the one Dickey has mentioned and proposed forming in an earlier part of this Town Talk) can work toward a green, environmental town.
Dickey’s answer is, “That’s a really, really good idea.”

The woman then follows up by asking if this would be something for the Chamber of Commerce to do. Dickey answers, “The town can make ordinances.”
Is it not hard enough for our business community to survive through our slow summer months? Now, if elected, Dickey is considering interfering with the running of a business? Will she follow up on her statements that the town can pass ordinances to force restaurants to get rid of all their plastic? It should be up to an individual business on how to operate, shouldn’t it?
We are all trying our best to help our environment but businesses should be left alone to make their own decisions. The more restrictions we put on them, the chances are they will close their doors or move away.
I’m not voting for a big sister/big government candidate like Dickey. I’m voting for pro-growth and business candidate Cecil Yates.
