Halloween in the Hills tonight

Tonight is the night for old-fashioned Halloween fun on the Avenue of the Fountains.

The annual Halloween in the Hills event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Activities for the whole family are planned.

Carnival games, costume contests, bounce houses, martial arts demonstrations, a zombie “Thriller” dance, music and more will create the scene at Halloween in the Hills 2018.

Halloween in the Hills tonight

Tonight is the night for old-fashioned Halloween fun on the Avenue of the Fountains.

The annual Halloween in the Hills event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Activities for the whole family are planned.

Carnival games, costume contests, bounce houses, martial arts demonstrations, a zombie “Thriller” dance, music and more will create the scene at Halloween in the Hills 2018.

The Town of Fountain Hills will close off the Avenue of the Fountains, and some 40 local businesses and charities will provide family game booths. Businesses will stay open late for trick or treating. Booths are carnival-style, and prizes are candy and toys.

Other activities include a pet adoption time sponsored by Pal’s Inn, a photo booth in front of Sami’s Fine Jewelry and a fire truck candy drop.

Sami Fine Jewelry and Steadfast Construction are sponsoring the costume contests. The first, “Pets and Their People,” features every kind of animal imaginable with their owners. Registration is at 5:15 p.m. with the contest beginning at 5:45 p.m.

The second contest is “Best Kids Costume,” starting at 6:30 p.m. Registration is at 6 p.m. Participation in both contests is free. Prizes are sponsored by local businesses.

Sonoran Lifestyle will host a “Spider Village” starting at 5:30 p.m. Charlotte, the friendly spider will be on hand to entertain visitors.

Halloween in the Hills will have its first haunted house for children 10 and older and adults. CPL Properties is sponsoring the house.

In addition to candy, treats and fun, visitors are encouraged to eat at one of the nearby restaurants or to enjoy food provided by Noon Kiwanis. Food trucks Waffle Luv and Cactus Corn also will be on hand to provide another selection. A portion of the proceeds from any food or drink purchased at the carnival will be donated to local charities, including Rescue Pals and the Boys & Girls Club.

The Town of Fountain Hills is the primary sponsor of Halloween in the Hills. An additional 50-plus businesses and organizations are sponsoring the event.
