So much of what we debate in politics depends on who and how people determine where the line is drawn. Writers to this paper have determined that President Obama and those of us who support him have crossed some ill-defined line and become Socialists even Marxists/Communists.
How scientifically clairvoyant of them.
I think I’ll try my hand at playing their game and see where it leads.

Hard work or greed

So much of what we debate in politics depends on who and how people determine where the line is drawn. Writers to this paper have determined that President Obama and those of us who support him have crossed some ill-defined line and become Socialists even Marxists/Communists.
How scientifically clairvoyant of them.
I think I’ll try my hand at playing their game and see where it leads.
I’ll begin by asking “When does an individual go from being labeled as financially successful to greedy?” There are Republicans who would disagree with my selection process as they believe becoming rich even obscenely wealthy represents the American dream. Hard work has paid off.
Even if the person has multiple high end cars, several homes, a yacht, private jet and bank accounts in the Cayman Islands that’s just fine. “Enough” need not be part of their vocabulary. The ongoing search for “more” becomes an acceptable way of life. No greed here.
As for the thought that they worked hard and earned every penny I’ll respectfully disagree. Others did it for them. Tax attorneys and accountants, high powered lobbyists, political cronies, off shore accounts, loopholes, marketing executives, Wall-Streeters, all with but a single job description: “Thou shalt ensure my money multiplies and I prosper!” Meanwhile, often low paid workers have Turbo Tax.
The point I’m making is that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If I and others have crossed some mythical line and become socialists then I can say many of the wealthy have crossed a similar imaginary line and become greedy, pure and simple.
And so, if my logic is to be believed I can unequivocally state Conservatives admire greed while I await their equally logical explanation as to why I and the president are Marxist/Communists.
