There is plenty of sand in the desert but few beaches.
Fountain Hills Theater will see to it that patrons get a taste of the beach scene at its annual Broadway in the Hills. This year’s theme is “Good Vibrations,” and the Sunday, March 6, event promises plenty of fun, fun, fun when the Community Center is converted to a seaside paradise.
Broadway in the Hills is the theater’s primary fundraiser and is one of the social events of the year. This year is special, organizers said, because Executive Director Val Stasik will oversee for the last time in her position.

“Since Val is retiring, this will be a big deal for her,” said theater board member and dinner committee organizer Dori Wittrig. “And we are going to have fun.”
And wouldn’t it be nice to buy tickets now for $100 each or tables for 10 for $1,000? Don’t worry, baby, there are tickets available, but don’t wait. Tickets are online at fhtaz.org, or by calling the box office, 480-837-9661.
Special “groupies” tables are available for singles, couples and those wishing to meet other theater supporters and enjoy the show with new friends.
The event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with a cash bar, hors d’oeuvres and the silent auction. A little deuce coupe, a 409 and a few hotrods will enhance the scene.
The good vibrations start at 7 p.m. with dinner, dancing and entertainment by the Southwest Surfers and FHT Performers. The Southwest Surfers’ music will have the audience up to dance, dance, dance through the evening. So, do you wanna dance? You might just win the dance contest.
CopperWynd Resort and Club and Cummings Termite and Pest Control are “Keystone” sponsors.
Dinner is catered by “Cornerstone” sponsor Sapori D’Italia. Other Cornerstone sponsors are Sami Fine Jewelry and Highlands Chateau
Arizona Lottery and Cruizees Travel Agency are “Pillar” sponsors.
“We are very grateful to our sponsors,” Wittrig said. “They make it possible for us to create a memorable event for everyone.”
Dress for the evening is any outfit from the ‘60s – glitzy, glamorous, beatnik, beach or resort casual.
So wax up your board and prepare to catch a wave. Surf’s up!
