High Holiday services set by Chabad

In anticipation of the upcoming Jewish New Year (Sept. 13-15), the Chabad Center for Jewish Life of Fountain Hills has announced its High Holiday Services schedule.

They will be “warm, friendly, traditional and open to all,” says Chabad’s executive director, Rabbi Mendy Lipskier.

All are welcome to services at Chabad, free of charge, regardless of background or affiliation. Membership is not required to join and there are no prerequisites.

Chabad’s services are “user-friendly,” making it enjoyable and meaningful for both the beginner and the advanced. Song, commentary and the use of English-Hebrew prayerbooks enable those of all levels to become active participants in the services.

Lipskier continued, “The Lubavitcher Rebbe insists that Judaism is accessible to all Jews. During the Jewish High Holidays, accessibility can translate into different factors for different people, such as a non-judgmental atmosphere, affordability of the services, or the ability for a beginner to follow along.

“Our goal is to lower the barriers of entry, and encourage each and every Jew to actively participate in these most holy and introspective days.”

Services will be held on Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year (Sept. 13-15), at the Fountain Hills Leaning Center 16000 E. Palisades Blvd.

Yom Kippur – the Day of Atonement (Sept. 22-23) -- services will be held at the WeKoPa Resort & Conference Center, 10438 N. Fort McDowell Rd.

Rosh Hashana services are Sunday, Sept. 13, 6:30 p.m.; Monday, Sept. 14, 9:30 a.m. and shofar sounding at 11:30 a.m.; Tuesday, Sept. 15, 9:30 a.m. and shofar sounding at 11:30 a.m.

Yom Kippur services are Tuesday, Sept. 22, 6:15 p.m.; Wednesday, Sept. 23, 9:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The fast ends at 6:59 p.m.
