High school tours available all summer

New Fountain Hills High School Principal Cain Jagodzinski doesn’t officially begin his first school year until July 1, but he’s already on campus and looking to get more local families in the door.

Throughout the summer, Jagodzinski said he will be on-hand to give tours to local families who wish to know more about what the local high school has to offer. Along with a new principal taking over, Jagodzinski said that FHHS will be undergoing some changes in the coming year that should give students more opportunities than ever before to find elective courses that meet their interests and offer additional academic rigor.

“What I want to get out to the community, especially our eighth grade parents, is that I’m available for school tours, to talk about my vision or where our curriculum is heading,” Jagodzinski said. “I’m local, so I’ll be here all summer and I can meet with them at any time. I want to open up the campus to anybody who is interested in learning more about our high school.”

Jagodzinski is so early to the job that he doesn’t even have an official FHUSD email yet, but he said that anyone wishing to speak with him and set up an appointment should either call the high school office at 480-664-5500 or the district office at 480-664-5000. The district office will be in operation through the summer, so anyone who wants to speak with Jagodzinski can call, leave a message and he’ll get back to them to set up a chat or tour.

Once the school year gets rolling, Jagodzinski plans to also open up a scheduling option on the high school website to make it easier than ever for parents and residents to set up meetings with him.

Jagodzinski, or Mr. J, said that he understands there are options available to local families and he wants everyone preparing for high school to know what is available on the local campus.

“First of all, I want them to stop by and just take a look at this beautiful campus,” he continued. “We have a lot of opportunities for students to be involved in clubs and sports and activities, so I’d like to walk them around and show off some of the accomplishments of our fine arts, athletic programs, clubs, etc.”

Secondly, Jagodzinski said he’s happy to share his vision for the future of FHHS, including course offerings, the AP capstone program planned for 2017-18, additional electives and more.

“Finally, I want to talk to them of my plan to create a really positive atmosphere on campus,” Jagodzinski said. “We’re putting in a framework for teachers, staff and students that really emphasizes positive behavior while offering intervention and the support needed to create that atmosphere.”

More than anything, though, Jagodzinski said he’s looking forward to getting to know more of his students and their families.

“I’m excited to get the opportunity to talk to them, let them know I’m available and share with them what we’re trying to do at Fountain Hills High School.”
