There is still time to register for the “Hike for the Homeless,” set for Saturday, March 2.

The annual event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at McDowell Mountain Regional Park, starting from the Pemberton Trailhead.

To register, visit sjwjobs.org. All registered hikers will receive a trendy pair of Hike for the Homeless crew socks, and a second pair will go to a homeless individual in need.

The Hike for the Homeless is the 21st annual event. The $7 entrance fee to the park will be waived for participating hikers.

Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for students before tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 28. The cost increases by $5 after that date.

The Hike for the Homeless benefits St. Joseph the Worker, a Phoenix organization, which operates mobile units filled with work-type clothing and computers to help homeless people fill out applications and find work around the Valley.

The hike features a 1.5- or 4.5-mile hike and includes food, a DJ, a rock climbing wall and covered ramadas and displays from organizations that help the homeless.

In addition to the leisurely hike, participants will be treated to free tacos and horchata from Taco Juan's Food Truck and breakfast burritos from San Tan Brewing Company.

Trophies will be given for the largest team, the most athletic team, the most spirited team and coolest team mascot (pets are welcome).
