Hiking trails in Fountain Hills got heavy use during 2024

More than 170,000 counted on local paths

The Sonoran Conservancy of Fountain Hills has released the numbers collected on its trail counters during the calendar year of 2024, and it reflects the popularity of hiking in the community.

More than 170,000 people tripped the trail counters as they headed out on the major open spaces around town during the past year. Collectively the Adero Canyon Trailhead, the Lake Overlook Trail and the Fountain Hills Botanical Garden counted 170,172 visitors in 2024.

The trail entry to the Promenade Trail out of the Adero Canyon Trailhead had the most traffic with 96,152 visitors. That counter tallies people as they go through the gate before branching off onto other trails. The Overlook/Ridgeline Trail had most of those visitors with 44,543 hikers. The Andrews/Kinsey-Western Loop access counted 38,255.
