He has personal interest in family history, and he and his wife have written more than 16,000 pages of journal entries focused on his family’s activities. He also has developed a database, which contains some 32,000 members of his family with another 10,000 to be added.
Roen has worked with colleagues to establish the Project for Writing Family History in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at ASU. They also have developed a degree in English which includes courses in writing and recording family history.
The Fountain Hills Chapter of the Family History Society of Arizona meets monthly from September through May on the second Monday of each month. Meetings, unless otherwise published, are at the Community Center. Mentors are happy to assist beginners in family research.
