On Wednesday, Oct. 26, I attended the North Heights HOA meeting to get clarification on the neighborhood’s ordinances. Board members Don Doty (President), Arthur Ammon, Ralph Donnelly, Lynn Strang, Phil Gaziano and Angela Howard (Property Manager) were present.
Under new business, I stated the HOA’s ordinances are ambiguous. Don Doty attempted to clarify them, however his explanation was insufficient. I asked for further clarification. Don became agitated and pounded his fist on the table, raised his voice and yelled at me to leave the meeting because I was “asking too many questions.” I told him I wouldn’t leave and I was only asking for clarification.
Don told me to go to the Sheriff’s office for more information. I replied “No.” Don got up and left the room with the entire panel feebly following him. I stayed in the room and after a few minutes, they returned and abruptly adjourned the meeting. Don stated they were going to have an executive session and I was required to leave.

I asked for two minutes of his time. Reluctantly he agreed. I stressed that I was only looking for rules clarification. He apologized and stated he is frustrated because similar questions were raised in previous meetings and he’s tired of answering them. He said the HOA is powerless. I suggested updating the rules and regulations document would provide clarification. Don said that was an expensive process.
Really? If this issue has been brought up numerous times, something needs to be done to clarify the rules!
Do we want a powerless, intolerant HOA leadership which pounds fists on tables, raises their voices and orders residents to leave the meeting? These people should represent us, not walk out on us.
Please remember this when the HOA board elections arrive and they ask for your support.
