Beth Culp, are you watching the same council meetings and the body of work as the rest of the town? Your letter on Councilman Gerry Friedel lacks merit from beginning to end.

First, “lacks interest ?” Really? He was the recent Volunteer of the Year, as voted by the residents of this town. He puts more effort and energy into visiting the business community than anyone in the community. He’s consistently questioned poor policy and poor projects in this town. He has asked thought-provoking questions about issues that this town faces.

Someone who lacks courage or confidence wouldn’t be doing that. When I look at his body of work, I’d be proud to see him as mayor of Fountain Hills. Lifetime politicians get comfortable and complacent and that leads to more problems.
