Homeless vets

Thank you for all the donations to the Homeless Veteran's Camp! We had a huge response from our Fountain Hills families. God bless each and every one of you.

We are going to continue collecting cases of water, tents (large tents as most of the veterans suffer from PTSD and cannot be closed in), sleeping bags, blankets, clothing, etc. If you would like to donate, please drop off donations on our front patio anytime. Address: 17241 E. Ledferd Lane. (Ledferd Lane is just off Saguaro, 2 blocks north of Shea Blvd. We’re the second home on the right after the intersection near the entrance of Clear Aire).

Some people have expressed an interest in getting involved with the Veterans on Patrol, who are organizing donations for the homeless veterans, so I would like to share that information with all of you. Veteran’s on Patrol’s website, vopaz.org , is where they organize meal donations and keep everyone updated. They also have a Facebook site, “Veterans on Patrol Alpha Base,” where pictures, stories and updates are kept.

The Veterans Homeless Camp is on McKellips next to Loop 202. Anyone is welcome to stop by. They always need blocks of ice and cases of water. If you do stop by to visit, maybe you can pick some up!

They do not accept donations of cash but gift cards they can use are much appreciated.

If you haven’t traveled the 202 lately, when you do, please look for the camp at McKellips. Nothing will break your heart as knowing that these are the men and women who have fought for our freedom and here they are living in tents in a vacant lot.

This is the United States of America, our veterans should not be living like this. Please help any way you can.
