Gas prices rose 2 cents a gallon in the Valley during the past week to settle at $4.44 a gallon, according to AAA Arizona on Friday.
“While gasoline demand is down, crude oil prices are keeping pump prices higher than normal for this time of year,” said Aldo Vazquez, spokesperson for AAA Mountain West Group in a release. “So far, this is the highest August on record when it comes to the national gasoline average.”
Gas rose 4 cents on the week in the state to sit at $4.40 a gallon. The national average also rose three cents a gallon to sit at $4.07 a gallon.
