I’ve only known Mike Scharnow for about three years, but some people have been fortunate enough to know him for more than 30 years. I’ve come to know Mike as a man of integrity, a person who has worked hard to improve this community and a guy who follows through when making a commitment.

These are important attributes as we evaluate our voting decisions for three town council seats. While the mayoral race seems to be taking much of the public’s attention, it’s important to realize that the mayor only has one vote, the same as the six other council members.

So while picking a figurehead for the town council and spokesperson for Fountain Hills is necessary, just remember there are three full-term council seats up for election. The fourth vacant seat means there could be up to four new faces on the council dais before Christmas.

Mike devoted 32 years to working at this newspaper and covering and analyzing all things Fountain Hills since 1983. Who could be more qualified as a town council candidate? His experience and knowledge are needed as we look ahead to 2020 and beyond.

And of course Mike is a team player! His team happens to be the Town of Fountain Hills and hopefully he’ll be a player on the town council team as well. He has my vote! He will be an independent and educated voice who can immediately contribute to a team headed in the right direction.

I like Mike!
