We dare not forget the political elite’s condemnation of our porous southern border; racist judgments about the oppressed and unskilled in nations to our south; and unfulfilled promises of secure borders.
Recall these well-publicized positions:
“All Americans...are rightly disturbed by the large numbers of illegal aliens entering our country…it is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation to permit this kind of abuse of our immigration laws.” President Bill Clinton, 1995.

“…and because we live in an age where terrorists are challenging our borders, we simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked…” Sen. Obama, 2006.
“…we simply don’t enforce our borders adequately” and “The day that America can be the welfare system for Mexica is gone.” Sen. Diane Feinstein.
“Just because your child gets across the border, that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay” and “I am adamantly against illegal immigrants…” Hillary Clinton.
“People who enter the U.S. without our permission are illegal aliens, and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who enter the U.S. legally” and “It is illegal and wrong.” Sen. Chuck Schumer.
In 2006, Pelosi supported The Secure Fence Act requiring not fewer than 700 miles of reinforced fencing, 2-3 layers deep. Obama: “The most aggressive border security plan in our history.” A 2007 amendment nullified the law.
“We need to address…the challenge we have of undocumented people in our country…we certainly don’t want any more coming in.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi, 2008.
President Trump, with all due respect, why are you helping political opponents achieve their cherished objectives? “Because it’s in the nation’s best interests.” I’ll buy that. More confusing is the opposition rejecting your help. Had you joined the fray earlier, our borders would be secure. (Remove tongue from cheek.)
