The political campaign season is here, and campaign signs endorsing various candidates are already showing up around town. At this point the signs must be on private property with the owner’s permission.
In a couple of weeks, however, it will be permissible to post political signs in the public rights of way. Citizens are reminded that political signs are protected speech, and it is a crime to remove or damage them.
Former Maricopa County Sheriff and candidate for mayor of Fountain Hills, Joe Arpaio, has reported signs he posted (on private property) have been stolen or damaged. He is offering a $2,000 reward for information.
