Incumbent Peggy McMahon retains Town Council seat in Fountain Hills

Recount affirms seven vote edge over Mathew Corrigan

The automatic recount conducted by Maricopa County confirmed incumbent Councilmember Peggy McMahon is the winner of the race for a seat on the Town Council, according to Fountain Hills Community Relations Director/PIO Mike Pelton.

Results from the Nov. 5, General Election showed McMahon leading Mathew Corrigan by seven votes. Given the narrow margin (0.5% or less), the race went to an automatic recount.

The results, unsealed during a hearing in Maricopa County Superior Court Monday, showed there were no variances identified in the recount for the Town Council contest. The results affirm McMahon received 6,592 votes, and Corrigan 6,585. The Town of Fountain Hills was one of several races statewide that went to an automatic recount, which was initiated though the prescribed legal process following the canvass of the election results by Maricopa County.
