Studies have clearly shown that poorly maintained roads, parks, town infrastructure, or inadequate investment in public safety have an adverse impact on property values.

Even a 5 percent reduction in the selling price of a $300,000 home with the limited value (primary) assessed amount of $249,000 would risk losing $15,000 off the price of the home; the same homeowner who would be paying less than $375 tax deductible dollars per year of primary property tax. The $15,000 loss is roughly 40 times greater than the assessed amount.

As a homeowner, I’m not willing to take that risk. I see voting for the primary property tax as a fairly small investment, no different than painting and repairing my house to preserve the value of my largest ownership asset.

Please vote yes to protect our home values while we protect the greatest place to live, our town.
