You know we are close to fall when we have opening night at the Fountain Hills Theater. “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” opened their season Friday, Sept. 13, and will close Oct. 6.
It’s been a long, hot summer, so go enjoy a few hours of pure entertainment, as men in togas and women in less run around the stage delighting us at every turn.
Led by the incomparable Scott Hyder as Pseudolus, the cast is flawless. You will remember Scott in “The Producers” and “Boeing, Boeing” most recently and lots more over the years. Pseudolus plots to win the hand of a beautiful, if clueless, courtesan for his master Hero in exchange for his freedom. Thus the fun begins.

Peter J. Hill has added a few of “his” modern touches and you will recognize those right away. This play has been around since it opened on Broadway back in 1962.
If you haven’t seen it, now is your chance. If you have, then see it and laugh all over again. It’s goofy, silly, funny and the costumes are delicious, plenty of skin for all. There are lots of twists and turns and is almost Shakespearean with babies abducted years before and reunited with their father. Every comedy should end happily and this one is no exception.
Season tickets are still on sale or just call for this show. The box office at (480) 837-9661, ext. 3, will be glad to help you.
