It's local

For many months, the political focus has been on the presidential primary process. During the last week, the results of that process have become much clearer. So, maybe now is a good time to return some attention to the local scene.

Much of what affects our daily lives is the result of state laws and regulations. Because this is a more local process, we also have a greater opportunity to be aware of and have meaningful interaction with and influence upon our legislators.

If we don’t voice our opinions, they won’t hear them. If we make our views known, they can be heard. If we pay attention to our elected officials, it’s more likely they will pay attention to us. If we ignore them, the more likely they will ignore us.

Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party provides our community with the opportunity to learn about the issues, hear from our elected officials, ask them questions and hold them accountable.

On Tuesday, May 17, Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party will welcome our State Representatives, Michelle Ugenti-Rita and Jay Lawrence. They will provide a summary and discussion of legislation from the current session and how it will affect us. As is always the case at meetings of Fountain Hills AZ Tea Party, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and get answers.

Plan to join us at FHUSD Learning Center (Palisades and Golden Eagle Boulevards) on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:30 p.m. It’s close to home and a convenient way to exercise your civic responsibility.

Admission is free, but donations to cover expenses are gratefully accepted. All interested parties are welcome to come, listen, learn, ask questions and bring some friends. We hope to see you there!
