Friedel has clear vision? Not so fast, Nancy Plencner.
He joined the unanimous vote for the sign ordinance and then later voted to repeal it (which was illegal). It was reinstated.
As a Chamber “Volunteer of the Year,” he’s voted against many issues that the Chamber advocates for, including the Target Center project. He’s ok with the potential Target failure, and the resulting shopping center demise with a dozen empty buildings at the Town’s front door?

As to his finance acumen, he “knows the difference between ‘nice-to-haves’ and ‘need-to-haves.’ He’s voted approval for every Town budget since he’s been on council. Now what’s he going to do?
He’s committed to “preserving” a quality of life in Fountain Hills. That sounds like he supports Mayor Dickey.
Friedel refused to commit to public support of the recent school bond issue which requested funds to maintain their facilities. What’s that say about the town’s future needs to maintain its infrastructure?
It seems that he wasn’t paying attention during the primary property tax discussions because at the recent council retreat, he didn’t know that we are getting less money from the state because the town isn't growing and other towns are.
Put 2 and 2 together, and you get a wannabe mayor who doesn’t know what side he’s on. He’s not a leader – he’s a follower. He listens to the ROT PAC. But knowing their recent record, they’ll abandon him like they have Arpaio and Kalivianakis. It’s just a matter of time.
Friedel is short on substance, but he's a “hard worker?” Thanks, that's quite an endorsement from Plencner.
