Jane Campbell, 61, died peacefully in her sleep at her Fountain Hills home on Feb. 19, 2013 from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Jane was born Oct. 18, 1951 in Wanaque, N.J. to Kenneth and Hannah Batson who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rhys; daughters, Kelly Alway of Payson, and Lindsay Schoen of Surprise; brother, Bruce Batson of Wanaque N.J.; and sister, Diane Burk of Phoenix. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kyle, Konner, Kollon, Hailee, Cameron and McKenzie, all of Arizona. Jane had numerous nieces and nephews.

Her twin brother, Jack, predeceased her.

Jane was an Arizona and Fountain Hills resident for more than 30 years. She was an administrative assistant, worked in the hospitality industry, had business interests in landscaping and home-cleaning services and was a certified welder.

Her sense of color and design marked her flare for interior decoration. She was a member of the Fountain Hills American Legion Auxiliary.

In retirement she traveled throughout the U.S. with her husband. Her passing ended plans for a trip to Puerto Rico and the American Virgin Islands.

She had many friends and acquaintances in Fountain Hills and will be fondly remembered for her vivacity, caring nature and loving heart. She was a bright and intelligent woman – she will be missed.

Jane was cremated Feb. 26, at Paradise Memorial Crematory. Arrangements were through Messinger Mortuary Fountain Hills. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 Saguaro Boulevard. There will be a gathering later that day at American Legion Post 58 for family and friends.
