Janice Anderson, 67, of Fountain Hills passed away on March 13, 2014. She was a beloved daughter, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her brother, John Gable; and daughters, Erica Peterson (John) and Kirsten Park (Alex), as well as her one grandson, Logan Park.

Janice was born July 4, 1946 in Cuba City, Wis. As a young woman, she excelled in school, won the state-wide oboe competition and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1967 with a degree in education.

She shared her passion for education with her father John, who was a lifetime teacher and principal in Wisconsin, and inherited her gentle soul from her treasured mother, Mary.

In 1981, she moved to Arizona and continued teaching, with her career extending to 33 years in the Scottsdale School District. Over the years she taught language arts, humanities, math and English as a Second Language to countless students at various district schools including Supai, Mountainside, Coronado, and Desert Mountain.

She also taught her two daughters invaluable life lessons and shared her kind and gentle manner with all she met. Aside from teaching she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling and relaxing in the swimming pool.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 18, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 N. Saguaro Blvd. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the mortuary with the memorial service at 4.
