As the Church of the Ascension continues its historic 50th Anniversary Jubilee, the parish invites the Fountain Hills community to begin 2026 with a series of events embodying the Jubilee theme: “Reflect, Rejoice, Renew.”

The January schedule offers opportunities for deep spiritual reflection, musical celebration and compassionate renewal through global outreach, according to a press release.

All members of the community are welcome to join the Church of the Ascension in celebrating these milestones.

Reflect: ‘Divine Will Retreat’ with Mother Gabrielle Marie Breaux – Jan. 9-10

Start the new year with spiritual guidance during a two-day retreat led by Mother Gabrielle Marie Breaux.

Mother Gabrielle brings profound insight from her 33 years of service under the guidance of the late Abbess Mother Angelica, the renowned foundress of EWTN. This retreat promises to be a time of deep reflection and spiritual growth, the release said.

This event is held from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10.

Renew: Outreach for the Diocese of Kannur – Jan. 10-11

The Jubilee spirit extends beyond these borders as the parish renews its commitment to the Housing Project in the Diocese of Kannur, India.

Following last year’s success, where the generous donations of Ascension parishioners funded the construction of six homes for families in need, this weekend will focus on continuing that vital support and changing lives abroad.

Rejoice: Piano concert by Charles Szczepanek – Jan. 23

The community is invited to rejoice in song with a special concert by pianist Charles Szczepanek.

The evening features a program anchored by 40 minutes of hymn arrangements, including selections from Szczepanek’s album, “Keys for Comfort and Praise.”

The musical journey continues with 25 minutes of melodies from musical theater and film, highlighting his “Keys to the Cinema” album.

Szczepanek will also perform original compositions from 2022–2025, including pieces from his Grammy pre-Nominated EP “Facets of Love,” released earlier this year. The night concludes with a spirited set of classic Beatles arrangements.

This concert is at 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 23.

Szczepanek holds a special place in the history of the Church of the Ascension, having served as music director for 10 years and founder and artistic director of the Arts at Ascension concert series.

Church of the Ascension is located at 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. For detailed event schedules and updates, visit ascensionfh.org.
