Janus and hope

January is named after Janus, the mythical god of beginnings.

We are at crossroads as a nation, and the perfect time for a new beginning is right now for us to start ridding ourselves of the Big Brother atmosphere that the Obama administration created in America during his “reign.”

This corrupt and deceitful administration has chiseled away at our liberties, from spying on law-abiding citizens to targeting conservatives for extra scrutiny by the IRS and EPA, to socialized healthcare.

Now Senator Boxer (D) of California is sponsoring Bill “Map-21” that would give TSA the power to confiscate your passport at the airport if you owed back taxes.

The problem with the language in this bill: “...to deny, revoke, or limit passports,” to citizens who (might) owe back taxes, is that there are too many grey areas, such as computer glitches, or a CPA may have a case under appeal, a divorce, or any other legal entanglement which would cause the IRS to control your life.

Does this mean that a citizen will not be permitted international travel to a family funeral or for business purposes? Passports are expensive to obtain and are also used as a form of federal identification.

Travel restrictions are a favorite restraint mechanism of Communist regimes. This draconianism has gone too far! I am going to carry a copy of the Bill of Rights in my bag.
