Jeremy and Stan

Distinguished On Thursday the 1st, the Mayor and Council appointed new commissioners to the Planning and Zoning Commission. I want to take a moment to give you insight of the two commissioners leaving the P&Z.

Fountain Hills needs to recognize Jeremy Stroham and Stan Connick for the selfless dedication to a job many would leave for others. Jeremy was always there to lend his experience and insight that we wouldn’t otherwise have gotten. I promoted that you share information, participate and come to decisions on your own. Jeremy followed that philosophy. When He decided to leave on his own terms, I can’t say I was happy but I knew life was taking him a different direction. It’s hard to let go!

On the other hand, Stan enjoyed the last six years of service and was looking to continue. But it was not to be. Thursday, the council selected another to fill his seat. Stan brought to the commission an architects perspective. Stan has steeled my belief that his experience and knowledge rounded out this group of professionals. Always thoughtful in his remarks, Stan brought a gentle voice that calmed many situations. He was our grounding rod.

Few know how hard it is to deal with controversial issues that come before us. Stan and Jeremy handled themselves professionally and looked for the compromise that would satisfy all concerned. When a compromise couldn’t be reached, they both made sure that everyone’s comments were heard and explained their votes.

I want to personally thank these two for their work on the commission. You both will be sorely missed! I intend to be at their recognition to share my appreciation for a job well done.
