Jewish Women's Circle hosts garden party

A ladies’ Hakhel luncheon celebrating Jewish unity is planned for noon, Sunday, Feb. 28, in the home of Karen Abrams.

Hakhel was a gathering that took place on the holiday of Sukkot after the sabbatical year in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Every Jewish man, woman or child was expected to be present, and the king would read special selections from the Torah to them.

This is a Hakhel year. Although there is no Jewish king or Holy Temple, the essence of the mitzvah, gathering with fellow Jews for Torah study and inspiration, is something everyone can do.

There will be a speaker and musical entertainment.

The cost is $18. For more information or RSVP, contact Tzipi Lipskier at Tzipi@JewishFountainHills.com or call 480-776-4832
