Joe Hutch Brewer, 93, passed away June 2, 2015 in Fountain Hills.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of their home in Rio Verde; two daughters, Beckie Jones, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Julie and Ralph Pike, Naples, Fla. He leaves four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was born Dec. 6, 1921 in Tulsa, Okla., the youngest of three children born to Thomas and Esther Brewer. He graduated from Central High School and the University of Tulsa with a degree in accounting.

He married Viola Caraway in 1946. They moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1956, where he worked as CFO for Thunderbird Drilling until his retirement in 1986. They retired to Rio Verde where he enjoyed playing golf several times a week into his 90s. Following Viola’s death in 1997, he was blessed to meet and marry Carol Scheiderman of Rio Verde.

He was a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps during World War II, serving in Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Palau, Tarawa and Kwajalein, and he was called back for the Korean War.

He will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Okla., next to his wife, Viola, grandson Jeremy Jones, and son-in-law Ranny Jones, who preceded him in death.

Private services were pending; arrangements by Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary.
