John Barlow, 96, joined the stars in heaven June 19, 2026, with his wife Lynn holding his hand at Scottsdale/Shea Hospital. Life was always an adventure for John. Born in Salford, England on March 12, 1930, he survived WW2 as a child evacuee and joined the British Royal Navy age 17, serving in the Korean War with tours of Malta, Ceylon, Japan, Singapore, Philippines.
He married Audrey Quayle and they were blessed with a son, Michael. After discharge from the BRN and further studies, John became an accountant for Eastern Omnibus Company in Chelmsford, England. John, Audrey and Michael immigrated to Phoenix in December 1962 to join family already here. Eventually he was employed as accountant by Corning Glassworks Factory until its closure. John joined St. Joseph’s Hospital as their property accountant in 1976 until 1995 retirement.
A widower for 10 years, John met Lynn at SJH, their first date on Ides of March 1990 and marriage 1991. John was a quiet gentleman yet with a wicked British sense of humor who dearly loved his family of Michael and daughter-in-law Kim, granddaughters Samantha, Christina, Angela, Nicola, and great-grandsons Jordan, Julian, Jackson.
As a child his favorite game was rugby, playing on rugby teams, and as adult loved watching the English matches, thankful for streaming services! He bought his first car in 1956, a 1939 Morris, and ever since loved anything with motors. In 1984 he designed the floor plan of his Fountain Hills home, doing much of exterior-interior work himself. Interests with Lynn were attending BRN reunions in England, traveling to many countries, reading English mysteries, feeding hummingbirds, watching ManCity soccer and Diamondback baseball games. Until a couple of years ago he was still making Full English Breakfasts on Saturday mornings. Next to FEBs, his favorite treat was a BK Junior Whopper.
In honor of John’s wishes, services will be private. The family is very thankful for all the love, prayers and support offered to us at this time.
