John H. Almlie

John H. Almlie, age 86, of Fountain Hills, was born in Bricelyn, Minn. Sept. 11, 1928. He passed away Dec. 19, 2014

He was a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1950, and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956. He married Lucille Eng in 1958 at Minneapolis, Minn.

In June of 1963, John received his B.S. in Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota. He purchased his own businesses -- Almlie Funeral Homes and Almlie Furniture Store, Tracy, Minn., in 1971.

He was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and a member of the VFW Post 7507, both in Fountain Hills.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; three children; one grandson; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9.
