John Robert Funston was born Feb. 7, 1946 and passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, John lost his battle with kidney and heart disease.
John was born in Newport Beach, Calif. where he developed his love and passion for the beach. He devoted his life to serving and protecting others. After 26 years in law enforcement John retired as Chief of Police from Beaumont, Calif. Police Department. Retirement brought him more time to spend with his friends and family and allowed him to meet his soulmate, Linda. They celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary this past July.
John and Linda moved to Arizona 11 years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. It took them a few years to adjust to being so far away from the ocean but Fountain Hills became the perfect reprieve from the Arizona desert.
So many people loved and adored him due to his kindness, compassion and sense of humor.
John is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Jonas and his wife, Jamie, their two children, Kayla and Zachary; step-son, Roger; step-daughters, Charlotte and Lisa, and many friends.
The family would like to thank all those who have helped them during this very difficult time.
