Joyce Ann Bennett Moore, 83, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 following a short illness with lung cancer.
Joyce was born to Berneta and Elmer Bennett in Cherryvale, Kan. on Feb. 1, 1932. When she was eight years old the family moved to Ohio where her maternal grandparents lived.
In 1947 the family moved to Phoenix, traveling in a two seated Ford with half of the backseat loaded with boxes and the other half occupied by Joyce and her sister. Joyce graduated from North Phoenix High School and attended Phoenix Junior College.
She married in 1951 and had two children, Fred Jr. (better known as Stoney) and Mary Ann. After her children were grown she attended Arizona State University, graduating with a degree in accounting. She obtained her CPA certification and worked as an accountant until retiring in 1999.
Joyce accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized as a young teenager. As long as she was able, she was active in her church: First Phoenix Baptist, Monte Vista Baptist, Fountain Hills First Baptist and, until her illness, Chaparral Christian.
Joyce brought bright smiles to all who knew her. She is survived by her younger sister, Phyllis, and brother-in-law, Cameron Crump; and her two children, Stoney and daughter-in-law, Josie, and Mary Ann and son-in-law, Ken Paulic; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Chaparral Christian Church, 6451 E. Shea, Scottsdale, on Saturday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Youth Haven Desert Ranch, P.O. Box 716, Eloy, AZ 85131.
