Judges needed

We cordially invite scientists and engineers in Fountain Hills to judge at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair at the Phoenix Convention Center from May 8-13, 2016. This is the world’s largest pre-college science and engineering exhibition. Last year, over 1,700 high school students from more than 75 countries, regions and territories competed for over $5 million in awards, and this year’s Fair is expected to be the largest ever!

Over 1,000 Grand Awards judges are needed this year in 22 categories of competition. Judging is the single most important activity of the Intel ISEF. In the words of a recent judge, “Judging was one of the most personally challenging, educational and rewarding experiences I have had in some time. These are truly amazing people.”

The benefits of judging go well beyond interacting with the world’s most talented students to gleaning new ideas for research, expanding professional networks and promoting STEM education.

Judging activities will start on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 10, and continue until the evening of Wednesday, May 11.

Other activities during the week include a high-tech opening ceremony, a Nobel Laureate panel discussion, educational symposia, a public education outreach day and two awards ceremonies.

Local community participation is critical to the success of Intel ISEF. Please help by registering to be a judge at apps2.societyforscience.org/Judging/Account/CreateAccount.

Also, please encourage your colleagues to register as judges. Your efforts will be more than rewarded by your invaluable contribution to identifying the most promising young scientists and engineers in the world and helping to inspire thousands of pre-college students.

This is the one Fair you don’t want to miss: fun, interesting, inspiring and just a great way to spend the day!
