I was surprised to read recently that someone other than Ginny Dickey actually came out in support of the then Councilwoman Dickey’s protest of Sheriff Arpaio’s anti-terrorism training at the closed Four Peaks Elementary School. I thought at the time, and still do, that Dickey’s action showed a total lack of good judgement.
When she decided not to run again for council I was somewhat relieved, for I felt that her decision-making process was totally outside the mainstream and, at the time, was disturbing. International and domestic terrorists pick out targets and plan for their attacks to be successful by looking for weaknesses.

Football teams, firefighters, business organizations, the military and, yes, police should not go out and expect to perform in unison if they don’t rehearse, practice and train for every possible eventuality. Very few times, when confronted with a situation, will Plan A work out in its totality. However, due to preparation and quick action, moving to plan B, C and D will more likely result in success.
Some other judgement calls by Ginny Dickey around about the time of the MCSO anti-terrorist training, while she was still a Fountain Hills councilwoman, put our town in a bad light and have been well documented recently in the pages of The Fountain Hills Times. At this point there has been no admission by the former councilwoman that those actions were mistakes, so I don’t want to sit back and have our town subjected to this type of leadership.
A much better choice is obvious; a very successful businessman, a dedicated and hard-working family man with integrity and sound judgment, Cecil Yates.
