Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017 will go down (way down) in our town’s history. It was the day some of our elected officials (Kavanagh, Yates, Brown and Tolis) tore at the very fabric of FH. It was the day that the four member cabal set up and executed an “emergency” kangaroo court (where the principals of law and justice are disregarded and/or perverted; in which the violations of due process result in the denial of justice).
The result was that a “summary” court was held in public, dispensing with such things as conducting discovery or allowing the “defendant,” Andrew McGuire, to defend himself. Mr. McGuire was the town attorney for 15 years, serving as a well-respected, legal presence. He was humiliated by a machine gun barrage, a litany of issues going all the way back to 2002.
This was the second attempt of the cabal to get Mr. McGuire out of their hair by his insistence they follow the law. In 2016, the pretense for firing him was to cut legal cost. That sham didn't hold water, so in the middle of a major litigation they pulled the plug. In the 9/7 court hearing the developer’s attorney told the court “I can guarantee you when I have Kavanagh, Yates and Brown on the stand, their testimony will support the developer’s case.”

At a minimum, there is the appearance of a conflict of interest by our elected officials. Mr. Maguire attempted to defend himself by asking over and over again “why would I make decisions that didn’t ensure the best outcome for the town?”
“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s/woman’s character give him/her power.”
