Karen Ann Ford

Posted

Karen Ann Ford passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017, at Fountain View Village following a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Glen Ford.

The richness of her life is reflected in her children; daughter, Karie Donahue-Houle (husband, Steve) and grandson, Clinton Donahue; son, Markus Milligan; and her three daughters by marriage, Toni Drapkin (husband, Andy), Kelly Owczarzak (husband, Todd) and Susan DeLorenzo (husband, Michael); and their eight children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Kent Jackson, and their children and grandchildren.

During her final days she was surrounded by caring family and friends and supported by exceptional staff from Fountain View Village and Hospice of the Valley.

Born in Denver, Colo. on April 25, 1948, Karen graduated from George Washington High School and earned the reputation as a ‘blue ribbon’ equestrian. She enjoyed decorating, collecting, orchestrating yard and estate sales, playing cards and participating in the activities of Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

She had a special fondness for children, providing daily childcare for her grandchildren and children of close friends. Her life and family took her from Denver to New York, California, Arizona, North Carolina and back to Arizona…making friends all along the way.

She enjoyed sharing the award-winning poetry from “Two Hearts Talking”, written by her father, Harald H. Prommel.

When meeting someone new, she would often recite the poem, “Beginning:”

Haunting…

mysterious…

how soul discovers soul

when magically two hearts begin

to talk.

Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 3, at 2 p.m. at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 Fountain Hills Boulevard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley at 16117 N. 76th Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 or Upward Hound Pet Rescue, 1275 Fernwood Drive, McKinleyville, CA 95519.

“Her children rise up and declare her happy; her husband rises up and praises her. There are many capable women, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28 - 29
